General

Lithium-ion batteries are a relatively newer technology that offer intelligence, communication, higher energy density and longer life, while eliminating the need for service and maintenance like watering and following complicated charging processes. Lead acid batteries can be used in a wide variety of applications outside of their optimal conditions, which will severely shorten their life, while lithium-ion batteries should be optimized through proper system integration for increased performance.

A BMS (battery management system) is the brain of the battery and included within is an integral component of all our batteries. It is required for all Inventus Power batteries protect the battery from operating outside of safe conditions, communicates / collects data, and optimizes the performance. However, a BMS is not required on lead acid batteries and not found on all lithium batteries.

There are a variety of lithium technologies, such as Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) to name a few. Each technology has its own advantages to support various needs. Please contact us to learn more.

Nominal voltage is the standard voltage value of the battery whereas voltage can be a general value to describe the estimated voltage of the battery.

Rated capacity refers to the maximum potential capacity of the design whereas available capacity refers to the actual capacity available.

It is recommended to use an approved charger for lithium batteries to maximize performance and life. Using incorrect chargers could cause damage to the battery.

Storage

Lithium batteries should be stored in clean, dry and well-ventilated area and away from water and combustible and corrosive substances.

It is best to store lithium batteries at or below 25°C to maximize life and performance.

We recommend using first in, first out (FIFO) to prevent aged materials.
