Dan Friel joined Inventus Power as Director of Advanced Battery Systems Engineering on September 5, 2017. In his role, Dan will focus on developing standard products and modular system architectures to position Inventus Power for growth in the fast-growing, large format, advanced battery systems market. He will work closely with our Asia and U.S. Technical Centers to successfully design and develop products and solutions that will continue to make Inventus Power stand out as a trusted industry leader.
Dan is a battery industry expert and has been in the industry since the introduction of Li-ion. He is the co-author of the industry standard smart battery SMBus specifications, which has been used throughout the personal computing industry. Dan has been granted over a dozen U.S. patents and has authored numerous articles, trade publications and book chapters.
Over his career, Dan has held positions at semiconductor and battery start-up companies as well as industry-leading firms such as Duracell and Texas Instruments. He holds a BSEE from Purdue University and an MBA from Boston College.
